They’ve been plagued by rumours of a split since Liam Payne admitted they hadn’t been together as a five-piece in the past three months.
But One Direction’s Harry Styles has hit back at reports claiming the chart-topping boyband could be set to go their separate ways, insisting the group – also made up of Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson – are simply spending some quality time with their families.
Insisting the Story Of My Life hitmakers are enjoying a rare break in their usually jam-packed schedule at present, the curly-haired heartthrob joked that he had started to for get what his own mother looked like as One Direction’s epic world tour took its toll.
Speaking to The Sun, Harry said: ‘We’re not breaking up. We’ve spent every day together for months and I forgot what my mum looked like. It’s just holidays.’
The 20-year-old icon is now enjoying some quality time with his family, including his mother Anne Cox, in Los Angeles, with the pop megastar jetting into sunny California on Friday morning.
In spite of claiming the band hadn’t seen each other in the three months as One Direction collected their Global Success Award from British supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley at the 2014 BRITs on Wednesday night, Harry’s bandmate Liam Payne also dismissed the rumours.
Admitting he misses his bandmates, the 20-year-old singer joked that the boys don’t want to be signing up to The Big Reunion – ITV2′s pop star comeback show – until at least 2050.
He added to The Sun: ‘I miss the boys but if you don’t see your family you would go mad. We don’t want to be on The Big Reunion next year. We don’t want to be on The Big Reunion ever. Well, maybe in 2050.’
Liam revealed the boys are now working on their fourth studio album, and are preparing to start rehearsals for their upcoming Where We Are stadium tour.
He said: ‘We’re writing the new album and want to make that amazing… and rehearsals are just about to start soon for the tour. We’re messaging all the time. It’s been a while since we’ve all been together so we are enjoying being back in each other’s company.’
One Direction raised eyebrows at Wednesday night’s BRIT Awards when Liam admitted they hadn’t been all together in three months.
Speaking to show host James Corden, he said: ‘We’re having a great night, it’s the first time we’ve seen each other in three months maybe.’
