One Direction are now officially on their break, and of course, we’re all devastated.
The boys went out in style last night, performing at Wembley Arena, where they formed in 2010, as part of this year’s X Factor final.
They started by singing latest single “Infinity”, but it was after that that things got extremely emotional.
As well as judge Simon Cowell saying a few words, a video of celebrity tributes played out, with stars such as 5 Seconds Of Summer, Little Mix, James Corden, Jack Whitehall, Danny DeVito and David Beckham saying goodbye to the lads before their break.
One Direction then performed “History”, while a montage of old band photos appeared behind them.
“This is not the end,
This is not the end,
We can make it you know it, you know”
After the performance, the boys huddled together for a big on-stage hug, while we all sat at home sobbing.
Taking to Twitter, Harry said after the show: “To you, you have changed our lives and no words will ever be good enough to thank you for what we have done together. You are the greatest team mates we have ever known. Thank you.”
Meanwhile, Louis wrote: “Well that was an emotional night !! Never can we thank you enough for how special you have made the last five years for us! I hope you realise what we have all done together really is incredible.”
“You guys have made us what we are today! We’ll be back soon enough!”
Zayn confessed that the reason he made the decision to quit the band was because he wasn’t 100% behind their music and style. However, he didn’t put it quite so nicely, after branding One Direction “generic as f*ck”.
At the time, Zayn said in an interview with Fader: “There was never any room for me to experiment creatively in the band. If I would sing a hook or a verse slightly R&B, or slightly myself, it would always be recorded 50 times until there was a straight version that was pop, generic as f*ck, so they could use that version.
“I wasn’t 100 percent behind the music. It wasn’t me. It was music that was already given to us, and we were told this is what is going to sell to these people. As much as we were the biggest, most famous boy band in the world, it felt weird. We were told to be happy about something that we weren’t happy about.”
One Direction boss Simon Cowell has now blasted Zayn’s comments as “rude”, as he told The Mirror: “I think once he has had a chance to reflect on everything he will probably reconsider what he’s said because it was a very, very democratic process in the band.”
Simon continued: “It is a bit rude to the people who wrote all the hits with them. And to the other band members. I mean they all wrote a lot of the stuff.”
Cowell added that he helped Zayn out with a solo career at first, but hasn’t had much to do with him since: “To be honest I don’t even think about it too much because as soon as he left we sorted him out with a label who really were enthusiastic about him and then my loyalty was back with the boys.
“They had no warning. Not that they needed me but I wanted to show that I was there for them and that they could continue without him – and they did.”
Luckily, Zayn’s departure from the band didn’t have too much of an effect on the band, as they still managed to produce an incredibly successful fifth album with three brilliant singles.
We think those hard-working 1D boys definitely deserve this break!
Tom Parker regrets feuding with One Direction.
We’re sure that you all remember the whole One Direction vs The Wanted thing that went on for a bit too long… and of course, 1D won every time ;).
However, now that everybody has grown up a bit, The Wanted are currently on a hiatus and One Direction will also be taking their break soon, Tom Parker has admitted that he kind of regrets everything that went on between them.
Talking to Yahoo! Celebrity about their constant feuding, Tom said: “Everyone makes mistakes going through their teenage years, I make mistakes, nobody is perfect. The whole One Direction thing was just immaturity.
“As you get older you look back and think ‘Why did you do that? Why did you get into that?’ and the situation escalated really quickly, over the space of a year it felt like we were at war.”
It turns out that Liam Payne is willing to forgive and forget everything that went on, too. According to Nathan Sykes, he’s been in touch with Liam about writing some music together, with Nathan telling The Sun recently: “I spoke to Liam about writing together, which is going to be cool. I’m looking forward to that when we can get it in our schedules.”
But, the real question here is… will Louis ever let it all go?

IT’S ONE DIRECTION NEW SINGLE DAY!
The band’s brand new track “Perfect” has now premiered this morning, becoming the third track from “Made in the A.M.” that we’ve heard, following on from number one “Drag Me Down” and “Infinity”.
The song is called “Perfect”, and of course, it completely is.
Back in March, Zayn Malik made the decision to leave One Direction after four years.
Though his departure was a shock, it didn’t come as a huge surprise to many, who sensed that Zayn hadn’t been happy for a while.
Zayn’s reason for leaving the band was to become “a normal 22-year-old”, but it was speculated that Zayn would be starting up a solo career.
We’re still waiting to hear a Zayn solo track, but we can bet that it won’t be anything like One Direction’s music, as according to Liam Payne, Zayn just wasn’t into that.
Talking to Good Morning Britain yesterday Liam said of Zayn’s departure: “One Direction was never Zayn’s kind of bag if you know what I mean.”
It sounds like Zayn’s time to quit the band was always on the horizon, as “his taste in music was always a bit different, which I guess is what drove him to do what he did in the end – which is not necessarily a bad thing,” Liam explained.
Zayn has previously said that he’s excited to make “real music”, as opposed to the stuff that One Direction come out with…
The thought of a One Direction member quitting the band could have once been seen as the end of the world, but Liam insists that it’s all good: “Everyone’s come out fine from it, thanks to our beautiful fans. And he’s off doing what he loves as well, so both parties are winners in the end of a disaster of a situation. It’s all good.”
What do you guys think?
